Hell of the North County

Welkom to the sixteenth annual Belgian Waffle Ride California. The one that started it all returns May 1–2, 2027, for another weekend of bikes, beautiful bad judgment and the kind of post-ride storytelling that gets better with every Belgian ale.

The Hell of the North (County) has always been built around Unroad: a course that refuses to settle on one surface or let riders settle into one rhythm. Pavement gives way to dirt, sand and rocky sectors. Climbs interrupt conversations. Technical terrain asks questions your training plan may have neglected.

Waffle, Wafer and Wanna offer three ways into the experience, bringing accomplished racers and everyday riders together over the same North County terrain. The festival gives friends, families and cycling partners a place to gather before the ride and stay long after it. Venue and weekend programming will be announced as they are finalized.

Weekend experience

The weekend brings together rider check-in, the Unroad Expo, riding and the post-ride gathering. Meet the brands, catch up with your people, eat waffles and leave enough time for the stories afterward. The detailed 2027 program, venue and start times will be announced on the event page.

Figures reflect the 2026 Race Bijbel course numbers. Final 2027 routes, sector counts, feed zones and festival location will be confirmed separately.

Roadie Oh 

The 2027 Gran Roadie-Oh offers a 100-mile Century with 6,172 feet of climbing, a Metric Century with over 4,000 feet, and a 50-km-mile short ride with 1,500 of climbing. Details of the 2027 Roadie-Oh and Dubbel Header will be announced separately.

Series status

The 2027 Quad-Tripel Crown calendar and competition format are still being finalized. Participating events, scoring and the number of results required will be announced separately. Utah will not be part of the Crown series because it will operate as a standalone UCI Gravel World Series qualifier.

If event insurance was purchased you maybe be eligible for a full refund with a valid claim through the insurance provider Allianz. 
Full credit up until 3 months before event date.
50% credit up until 1 month before event date.
25% credit up until 1 week before event date.
All credits will expire at the end of the 2027 BWR event season.
